With love’s true meaning,
the Good Samaritan helped
someone in distress.
Shedding judgment’s sway,
the Samaritan embraced
what compassion means.
The balm of mercy
healing deeply the worse hurts
defeats sorrow’s rule.

Beautiful! I'm sure Miss Thompson would be proud :)
I had read this story before and it always brings tears to my eyes. I hope I was never the first kind of Miss Thompson! As a principal, I saw a teacher doing that to a child much like Teddy. I asked her to think differently about him, and when she did, she learned how lovable he really was.
We all need to remind ourselves, from time to time, that we need to act compassionately -- these 'outcasts' can truly be a blessing to us! Thanks, Judy, for the reminder!
Peace,
Muff
Heidi and Muff,
I too would like to be the second Miss Thompson. And I always can use a reminder!
